2009
February 25 - President-elect Rick Rhea presented an award to the students of Freeport's Mast Landing School to thank them for donating hand-made ornaments to help Freeport Rotary raise money for the fuel fund. Mast Landing School art teacher Becky Christie accepted the award.
February 13 - The Club celebrated it's 25th anniversary in style at the Harraseeket in on February 13th. District Governor Brad Jett and several former members were on hand to celebrate. Presentations on Club history and past projects rounded out the night. Photos of the event and Historical Photos are online.
January 1 - Freeport Rotary receives generous donation of over $3,200 from J.A.Y. Enterprises' Jay Yilmaz. Jay has been collecting an extra $.25 per bottle of water at his stands in Freeport for the past three years, donating the extra funds to the Freeport/Portland Rotary project to bring water filters to families in Honduras. Thanks to this latest donation, 43 families or roughly 260 people will now have access to clean water! (Photo L-R: President Jimmy Hendricks, Aiden Yilmaz, Jay Yilmaz)
2008
December 22 - Happy 25th Anniversary Freeport Rotary! The Freeport Rotary Club was chartered on December 22, 1983 and has faithfully served the communities of Freeport and Pownal for 25 years!

April 17 - Freeport Rotary has donated $1,000 to Freeport Community Services (FCS) annual summer camp program. Rotarian Curt Combar presented the check to Leslie Livingston, Executive Director of FCS. The program sends underprivileged Freeport and Pownal children to one of several summer camps in Maine.
2007

August 26 - Arnaud Botton, our exchange student from Belgium has arrived in Freeport!
June 16 - Freeport Rotary's 12th annual Close to the Coast 5K & 10K run was our largest event ever! See photos of the event. Race results are available at allsportsevents.com.
2006
June 27 - Freeport Rotary's changing of the gavel dinner was held at the Stone House in Freeport. Beautiful weather and a delicious lobster bake were on hand.

June 10 - Freeport Rotary's 11th annual Close to the Coast 5K & 10K run was a soggy one, but that didn't stop the runners from coming out! See photos of the event. Race results are available at allsportsevents.com.
May 1 - The Freeport Rotary Club and Winslow Park will once again host the Close to the Coast 5K, 10K and Fun runs at Winslow Park in Freeport on June 10, 2006. Register now at Active.com!
April 24 - Spring 2006 Freeport Rotary and Interact trip to Honduras for Pure Water was successful! The group learned about all aspects of the Pure Water filter, installed filters in homes, confirmed the sister-city relationship with Santa Barbara, Honduras, and began the Rotary matching grant process with the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara to bring pure water to families in the surrounding rural communities. March 22 - In celebration of World Water Day 2006, the Freeport Rotary announces it's first hands-on aid trip to Honduras to bring much
needed water filter systems to the families of Santa Barbara, Honduras! Part of a multi-year campaign to bring much needed pure water to this area, the trip will setup relations with Rotary clubs in Honduras and will introduce 6 Freeport High School students to world service.
March 4 - Mobile home move complete! Freeport Rotary contributed logistical planning and funding to help a Freeport resident move into a donated mobile home (PDF). After a few setbacks, the move was finally completed today.
2005

November 15 - The Club hosted a successful Appreciation Dinner to thank prominent volunteers in the Freeport and Pownal areas. The event was attended by Senator Beth Edmonds, council committee member Tom Rumpf and Representative David Webster
June 23 - Freeport Rotary to host July 4th parade once again! All Rotarians are encouraged to join the fun in building our Pure Water float and helping with the parade!
May 14 - The 10th Annual Close to the Coast 5K, 10K and 1K kids fun run is on for June 4th! More family fun is on tap for this year's event. Please join us! For race registration information, head over to Cool Running.
May 2 - Pure Water Spaghetti dinner on May 6 is CANCELLED. Watch this site or your local paper for a new venue and date.
April 28 - The Rotary Club of Freeport published a press release to announce the Pure Water Campaign to bring water filters to 533 homes in Santa Barbara, Honduras.
February 26 - The World Peace and Understanding dinner, held at Verillo's Convention Center, was quite an educational event. Clubs from around the district displayed information and presented progress on a wealth of impressive projects. Club members Todd Doolan, Bob Hanson, Leanne Barschdorf and Curt Combar attended along with exchange student Moe Ito.
February 10 - Prospective member Ron McGranahan fills his head with Rotary knowlege with the help of Todd Doolan and Bob Hanson.
February 2 - Pathfinder International was the topic of the presentation at our regular club meeting. Judy Karhl presented the mission of Pathfinder International which is to improve the reproductive health of women, men and adolescents throughout the developing world. January 26 - Leon Tranchemontagne, a Rotarian from the Biddeford/Saco club, spoke to the club about organ donation. Jenny Moore of Freeport also paid us a visit. She will host our Nagano, Japan exchange student, Moe Ito for the remaining 5 months of her exchange.

January 21 - Prospective member Glen Sanokklis is introduced to the finer points of Rotary and the Freeport club by Todd Doolan and Bob Hanson.
January 21 - The annual World Peace and Understanding Dinner will be held at Verrillo's Convention Center, Saturday, February 26. There will be exhibits from clubs around the district, great food, and interesting speakers. Cash Bar: 6-7:30; Dinner 7:00. Cost is $30 per person. July 4 - Another successful 4th of July parade hosted by the club! Photos of the event will be available soon.
June 19 - The 9th Annual Close to the Coast 5K & 10K got off to a drizzly start, but spirits were high! Photos of the event are now available. Also, race results are online at All Sports Events.
June 16 - Liza Fleming-Ives and Chris Cole spoke at the club meeting about the Maine Initiatives foundation, a non-profit organization that cultivates social, economic and environmental justice through grants and other support to grassroots organizations in Maine communities.
June 11 - Marg Migliaccio and Curt Combar present four Rotary Club of Freeport scholarships totalling $7,000 to four very deserving students at the Freeport High School awards ceremony for graduating seniors held at the Freeport Performing Arts Center
May 19 - The 20th Anniversary Dinner was a rousing success! Many thanks to the Anniversary Dinner
committee for putting together such an enjoyable evening. A few photos were taken at the event.
Mar. 24 - Three speakers to introduce us to the work of the St. Kliment's Orphanage in Lik, Bulgaria.
Bob Mantagnaro and two students from Freeport H.S. who have worked at the Orphanage will be at the club meeting
to show pictures and tell about the work that is being done, and the work that needs to be done.
We have already established relationships with the Rotary Club in nearby Vraca, and it's our hope that
working together, and taking advantage of RI's grants program that we can send much needed funds and
materials to this worthy effort.
