First Hands-On Aid Trip To Honduras

Pure Water Project Information

In April of 2006, a team will travel to Honduras as part of the Freeport Rotary Club's multi-year project to bring water filters to homes in the area of Santa Barbara, Honduras. Six students from the Freeport High School, members of Freeport Rotary's Interact Club for students, will join four Rotary members on a trip to Honduras April 16 through April 24.

The trip will have two main destinations. The first is Danli, in southeastern Honduras where the team will learn about the filter system developed by our partner organization, Pure Water for the World and experience hands-on installation of water filters in the homes of Hondurans in need of clean drinking water. The second destination is Santa Barbara, Freeport's adopted sister city, where the team will set up relations with the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara for the purpose of organizing future Pure Water for the World efforts in the Santa Barbara region.

The trip will serve not only to further Freeport Rotary's efforts to bring life-saving water filters to Honduras, but it will also help to promote world peace and understanding in our future generations of leaders, the students of Freeport Rotary's Interact Club.

Post trip update: View slides online from the trip or download the PowerPoint (28MB) or Compressed PDF (8MB).
